This is not a matter of fraud, but a simple exposure of a very shoddy plumbing business running out of Mudgee NSW Australia. It appears that Cudgegong Plumbing Pty Ltd just don't care about the quality of their work, or the value of their customers. They are just a bunch of unsupervised cowboys!

The following are just two prime examples of their cavalier and arrogant attitude:

Cudgegong Plumbing were called out to a caravan park, namely Bushlands Tourist Park, at Windeyer south of Mudgee, on May 30 last. The problem was a malfunctioning seweage pump which required replacement. The installers on site during installation suggested that the park owners should also seek advice from an electrician to ascertain if an overload cut out switch was also required. A local electrician was consulted and advised that an overload was not required for this particular pump.

Fast forward a few weeks to July 16. The newly installed pump stopped working and cut out. The plumbers were called in again and claimed that the pump had been blocked by two wipes. That's right, just two wipes! Any good plumber would know that a mesh surround filter is required for sewage pumps, as has been confirmed by Orange Pumps, the makers of said pump. They declined warranty and blamed the plumber. There was no mention of any other clogging. They took the pump away saying that it would be fixed under warranty, and that they would return with a temporary pump the same day. This did not happen!

Next day, July 17, Cudgegong Plumbing phoned and advised the park owners that warranty will not apply. The woman from the plumbing office was rude and wouldn't listen to the park owners, and refused to assist in any way.

The local electrician was consulted again, and he in turn consulted with his own affiliated plumber who confirmed should not have needed an override switch and that the plunbers had supplied the wrong type of pump for the job. The pump required should have had a built in macerator to deal with "wipes" - after all, it is part of the sewage system, and most people do use toilet paper!

Today, the owner director of Cudgegong Plumbers, Lee Taylor, arrived at the park without checking in at reception, and returned the new but faulty pump, which had cost the park nearly $1900 for supplying and fitting back on May 30. He took the pump to the sewage site, and then claimed again that the sewer was chock full. However this was not noted by his workers two days earlier. The park co-owner was told by Taylor in an abusive manner that the original pump had been scrapped, and that "you are not our clients anymore" and "what do you want - girlie". How rude!

Later in the day, a pump borrowed from a very helpful local Windeyer citizen was installed on a temporary basis and it pumped perfectly. See image below.

In a second earlier separate matter, Cudgegong Plumbing were called out, again to the Windeyer area, to fix a drainage issue. They sent out two young plumbers only. When their own drain unblocking equipment got stuck under the driveway, they proceeded to rip up a large section of concrete  to remove their equipment.. The owner was not in attendance at the time, and was not consulted about cutting up the concrete driveway. The apprentices, having completed their part, just left a huge slab of concrete aginst a nearby shed, and Cudgegong Plumbing then sent the owner a bill for approximately $6000 !

It is our recommendation that you do not do business with Taylor and his cowboys.

Now, just to add further flavour to this unsavory episode, here's the original invoice from Cudgegong Plumbers. Note it does not include any details on the make and model of the pump supplied. Thus is not a proper itemised invoice. Nor were any user manuals or instructions supplied. It may well have been a used and refurbished pump and not a new one, which would explain why Cudgegong Plumbers denied any warranty claim. The matter has been submitted to Fair Trading NSW.

Cudgegong Plumbing Pty Ltd

Client:                              BUSHLANDS TOURIST PARK

The park is out of the above sum of money and has a useless non-working pump instead, and no support whatsoever from the belligerent  owner of Cudgegong Plumbers Pty Ltd, Lee Taylor. The park is now awaiting attendance from another plumbing service.

Watch this space for further developments. We will advise if the park ever gets a refund.
